Winter Events & Activities In Kitchener
December is here and more snow has fallen; all the more reason to get into the cold weather and holiday spirit!
City Hall Outdoor Ice Rink
The outdoor ice rink in Carl Zehr Square is now open to skaters of all levels. It’s a great place to enjoy some skating, meet friends or teach the new skater in your life – there are even a limited number of child size skate trainers (equipment that new skaters can use to help with balance) available on a first come first serve basis. Change rooms are available seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Kitchener City Hall is busy with workers and volunteers preparing for one of the biggest events of the year: the Christkindl Market. In its 23rd year, Kitchener’s festival of German Christmas is four days of live bands, choirs, dance groups, and a great variety of children’s fun and entertainment. Shop from almost 100 vendors inside City Hall and throughout the Outdoor Village, with everything from food and gift ideas to your family’s perfect Christmas tree. Once again named as one of the ‘Top 100 Festivals & Events in Ontario,’ Christkindl Market is bigger than ever and is ready to welcome tens of thousands of visitors to downtown Kitchener. Admission is free!
