Billets Needed for European Teens' Summer Visits to Kitchener-Waterloo and area.

They will be studying English and enjoying either three weeks or one month of fun and sight-seeing.  Canada Linc English, the company which organizes the program, is looking for families with an extra bedroom and some spare time, to host these young people in their homes for one month. Programs are being run in Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Fergus Elora, and, Brantford. The program is organized so that working families who are away during the day can qualify as hosts.  Families are asked to provide a bedroom, three meals a day and to welcome their visitor into their everyday life. Students are expected to spend most of their evenings and weekends with their host families and integrate into our Canadian way of life.  They are free to take weekend trips with their host families if invited.
These programs have been running since 1992 and, in that time, have welcomed many students into local and nearby communities. Many students and families have formed lasting attachments and continue to visit each other.
While in the area, the teens will attend English language classes every weekday morning in a classroom setting on either a university campus or in a high school. In the afternoon, they participate in cultural, sightseeing and sports activities - so the kids get to visit destinations like Niagara Falls, CN Tower, Canada's Wonderland and other Toronto venues as part of the program. Since Canada Linc has a major tourism component, families don't have to do expensive things - ie: instead they may share activities like going shopping, visiting relatives, camping (if they like to do that), going to the beach, BBQs, etc.  It's supposed to be fun and a good cultural experience.  Families are paid $750 for a four week stay (Spanish) and $550 for three week stay (French). The Fergus Elora program offers a slightly different honorarium.
A "per week" honorarium is paid to each host family to cover expenses. Canada Linc's referral program is in effect. Refer a friend who hosts this summer and receive a $75 'thank you'. For info please visit the website at: .

This program requires police security clearance for the vulnerable sector for everyone over 18 in the house.
